Una visita al Parque Natural de Sant Llorenç de Munt i L'Obac
Al norte Sierras de Terrasa, en Barcelona, se encuentra el Parque Natural de Sant Llorenç de Munt i L'Obac, conformado por conglomerados calcáreos, que contrastan con bosques de encinas y pinos.
El paisaje que presenta este Parque Natural es agreste y pedregoso, producto de miles de años de erosión de la roca que lo conforma, cuyos orígenes datan de la era Terciaria. Como consecuencia de la acción erosiva del agua sobre este tipo de roca, se ha generado el singular relieve que cuenta con elementos tan característicos como canales, monolitos y pedregales.
La vegetación propia del parque está conformada por encinares, mostajos, bojes y robles. En la altitud inferior nos encontramos con arbustos y pinos propios del clima mediterráneo. Por otro lado, la base del macizo está poblada por pinares de pino carrasco, pino silvestre y pino laricio.
En este parque natural conviven más de 200 especies diferentes de animales como la salamandra, el jabalí, el petirrojo, la culebra bastarda, el arrendajo y la gineta.
El macizo ha sido ocupado en la prehistoria, por lo que existen importantes yacimientos arqueológicos que brindan un testimonio de la ocupación durante los diferentes períodos, la cual fue relativamente continua y esto puede comprobarse a través de muchos elementos que narran la historia de las distintas épocas: entierros de la época de los visigodos, iglesias románicas, construcciones medievales, neveras, elementos para la fabricación de carbón, etc.
En 1972 el Parque Natural de Llorenç de Munt i l'Obac fue declarado como tal y en la actualidad cuenta con una extensión de 13.694 Ha, compartido entre las comarcas del Bages y el Vallés Occidental.
El parque está conformado por dos cordilleras que se unen en el Cuello de Estenalles, cuenta con un Centro de Interpretación, bares, restaurantes, fuentes, merenderos, WC, parking, paneles interpretativos, material divulgativo, visitas guiadas, rutas señalizadas, e incluso está adaptado para ser visitado por discapacitados.
